Jakarta Provincial Government is asked to be more serious in arranging Kota Tua, West Jakarta. One of the ways to do it is by drafting spatial on this historical area.

“Thus far, it is yet implemented clearly on how to enliven and arrange Kota Tua, which is the jewel of Jakarta,” stated Chairman of Nusantara Arts Forum (FPBN), Hendardji Soepandji, after the opening of Nusantara Culture Arts Festival at Kota Tua, Friday (8/22).

According to Soepandji, at this time Jakarta Provincial Government only regulates dead objects in Kota Tua. As for the living objects, such as the residents and street vendors, they have not been placed in a special area. As a result, Kota Tua looks like damaged and not well-arranged.

“It’s not that we’re anti street vendors. This is a good area, so it should be really clean, both the area and also the people,” he uttered.

Even so, Soepandji also assessed that Kota Tua arrangement is not solely responsibility of Jakarta Provincial Government, but central government and citizens as well.

While regarding the Nusantara Culture Arts Festival, the event will be held until Sunday (8/24).

“This festival is opened for public from 9 AM until 10 PM. It is held as part of Indonesia 69th anniversary commemoration,” told Soepandji.

The Nusantara Culture Arts Festival was opened by Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Marie Elka Pangestu. It presents some traditional customs, such as Makan Bajamba (eating together) from Minangkabau, batik workshop, Ketoprak Tarian Agung Raja Manggala dance from Yogyakarta Royal Palace, Puro Pakualaman fashion show from Yogyakarta, as well as fashion show and ancient tea tradition.
