Vice Governor Election willl Be Discussed After DPRD Formation

Talk about rule, Basuki is representative of Gerindra Party, that means vice governor must be dedicated to PDIP

Jhony Simajuntak, Head of Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) said that discussion about the position of new Jakarta Vice Governor to replace Basuki 'Ahok' T Purnama will be conducted after the council member formation is done.

"If the council and its commission formation is done. We will then hold a plenary meeting soon," he told, Monday (8/25).

Jokowi Doesn't Want to Comment the New Jakarta Vice Governor

According to him, vice governor post is supposedly dedicated to the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) because Basuki has served Jakarta Governor post from Gerindra Party.

"Talk about rule, Basuki is representative of Gerindra Party, that means vice governor must be dedicated to PDIP," he expressed.

He predicts vice governor post discussion will take place this week. "At least, we can already give decision this week," he told.

Yet, the dissenting opinion came out from Jakarta Vice Head of DPRD, M Taufik. He said election for vice governor is still long. Its process takes about one until two months, because it depends on Jokowi's resignation letter approved by council.

"Vice governor post is currently still served by Basuki. We're currently still waiting for Jokowi's resignation letter and then continued with discussion," he stated.
