KPKP Intensifies Sacrificial Animal Health Monitoring Ahead of Eid al-Adha

Through this monitoring, we want to ensure those animals are healthy and safe for consumption

Starting from July 29 to August 9, Jakarta Maritime Agriculture and Food Security (KPKP) Department deploys personnel to monitor sacrificial animals health in Jakarta ahead of Eid al-Adha.

"Through this monitoring, we want to ensure those animals are healthy and safe for consumption. Besides, we want to anticipate animal seller from selling sick animals," said Darjamuni, Jakarta KPKP Department Head, Monday (7/29).

Jakarta KPKP Department Animal Husbandry and Animal Health Service Center (Pusyankeswannak) Head, Renova Ida Siahaan mentioned, team that will monitor sacrificial animals health are consist of Pusyankeswannak personnel, KPKP Sub-department personnel, and Satlak personnel from each sub-districts.

"This team will take animals blood samples and bring it to Pusyankeswannak laboratory in Ragunan, South Jakarta for further examination whether that animal carries anthrax or not," she  explained.

According to her, team will take 25 samples from 5 animal shelters or sellers in each sub-districts. Her team will warn animal sellers for not selling sick or deformed animals as sacrificial animals.

"Sick animal that is still alive must be marked with red cross since it is not fit for sale. While for others that died due to sick should be buried immediately," she added.
