Anies Supports JILF 2019 Event in Jakarta

During press conference of Jakarta International Literary Festival (JILF) 2019 held at City hall on Monday (8/5), Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan conveyed his support towards all cultural events in Jakarta that support city's potentials in tourism and culture development.

"We really support this festival. Hopefully it could make Jakarta as one important point in world of literacy. In this chance, Jakarta initiates and facilitates Jakarta International Literary Festival that will be held in Jakarta Theater and Taman Ismail Marzuki Complex on August 20-24," he said as quoted from Jakarta PPID Press Conference.

According to him, Jakarta has become a node of the conversation of growing Indonesian culture. Jakarta becomes a place where cross-ethnic writers work and develop Indonesia together. In this chance, Anies appreciates JILF 2019 event to be held in Jakarta because this international scale cultural event will invite actors and writers both from local and abroad.

"It's time for Jakarta to level up. JILF is an international event that will be attended by writers from 24 countries. We should be grateful that one of the important roles of a city as center for cultural activities can be facilitated together," he expressed.

He also wants JILF to be held routinely in Jakarta since it can give residents a chance to intensify their dialog, sharing, and discussion.

"I hope Jakarta International Literary Festival can be a milestone for cultural event in Jakarta," he added.

For information, JILF 2019 will be held in Taman Ismail Marzuki, Menteng, Central Jakarta on August 20-24, 2019.

This event is initiated by Jakarta Art Council (DKJ)'s Literature Committee. It is the first literary festival that is supported directly by Jakarta Government. Moreover it is planned to be held routinely every year.

JILF wants to give Jakartans chance to know more about masterpieces made by 60 local and foreign writers involved in this event.

In five days, JILF 2019 will hold symposium as the main program and discuss about interesting and important themes in literature. Symposium will be held twice and continued by light discussion related to certain themes and special sharing event with the selected author. JILF wants to invite literary actors or enthusiasts in Indonesia to participate in this event and enjoy other interesting main programs.
