Street Vendors Accused of IRTI Monas Market Kiosks Trading

The training given to 339 IRTI Monas Market guided street vendors, which held in the hall room of Jakarta Cooperatives, Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises and Trade (KUMKMP) Department office in Pedongkelan Urban Village, Kelapa Gading Sub-District, North Jakarta, had marred with tense.

So, when we got there, we checked the list of street vendors’ names. But our names were not in the list and we were prohibited to join in the training. Thus, we had quarrels

The reason behind the tense was because 30 out of 339 street vendors were not allowed to join the training due to their names were not listed as guided street vendors. As a result, heat arguments happened between the street vendors and the training committee in front of the hall room door.

According to Ridho, one of the street vendors whose name was not listed, the names of 30 out of 339 IRTI Monas Market guided street vendors were just suddenly disappeared from the list in the last day of the training on Friday (8/29). Whereas, he and 29 other street vendors are old vendors and their names even had been submitted to Central Jakarta KUMKMP Sub-Department.

Revitalization Plan for Monas' IRTI Market Stagnated

“So, when we got there, we checked the list of street vendors’ names. But our names were not in the list and we were prohibited to join in the training. Thus, we had quarrels,” he said, Saturday (8/30).

Because of that incident, Ridho accused there was a cheating, or more precisely practice IRTI Monas Market kiosks trading done by unruly official in Central Jakarta KUMKMP Sub-Department. Evidently, 30 street vendors who had been listed are now threatened would not getting kiosks because their names are now gone.

“Yesterday, we also saw vendors who never trade in IRTI Market but suddenly allowed to get in and join the training,” he expressed irritatingly.

Responding on this matter, IRTI Monas Market Coordinator, Jhon Dira, admitted that those 30 street vendors are indeed old vendors in IRTI Monas Market. He also had tried to make them be involved in the training.

“Central Jakarta KUMKMP Sub-Department should have referred the data to us. The real data of the street vendors is in our hands, not theirs,” he stated.

Meanwhile, when beritajakarta.com contacted Central Jakarta KUMKMP Sub-Department Head Sri Indrastuti for confirmation, she did not answer her cell phone nor reply the short message sent.
