Revitalization Plan for Monas' IRTI Market Stagnated

The revitalization plan for the Monas' IRTI (Indonesian Restaurants and Parks Association) has been postponed from initial target. Initially, the revitalization was targeted to be done by the end of this August, yet it cannot be realized due to many obstacles in the field thus it is hoped to be completed in upcoming October.

"During Eid ul Fitr holiday, many workers have not return from their hometown and inhibits the revitalization plan used the fund of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) from PT Sosro," said Head of Jakarta Cooperatives, Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises and Trade (KUMKMP) Department, Joko Kundaryo, Friday (8/29).

IRTI Monas Market Traders Control Plan Criticized

According to Kundaryo, delays on such revitalization plan is not a problem because of its fund does not use Jakarta City Budget (APBD), but from PT Sosro. "As planned, the Monas' IRTI Market would be a model to other regions," he told.

He explained this matter has been socialized to the vendors. While waiting for revitalization process. vendors will be given guidance to become business professionals.

"At this time, vendors are undergoing training from PT Sosro in our office, ranging from service training until how to present food," he expressed.

Head of Central Jakarta KUMKMP Sub-Department, Sri Indrastuti added that after being guided, 339 vendors at Monas' IRTI Market would be received 20 types of merchandise that was required of them. 

"We'll offer a menu to the vendor, such as selling meatballs, soto (Indonesian meat soup), fried foods, ketoprak (rice wrapped in coconut leaves with peanut sauce), and so on. Later on, each type of food will be different," he said.

She furthered the vendors will also be equipped with uniforms and id card. It aims to make the entire vendors easily recognizable. "If vendors do not obey our rule, they will be deactivated," he asserted.

After revitalization was done, the name of Monas's IRTI Market would be changed into the Taman Makan Lenggang Jakarta, and also be equipped with park in the middle. "Periodically, we will color the market with various entertainment," finished Indrastuti.
