City Once Again Received Dump Trucks

Indeed, the waste volume keeps rampant, yet we don't have enough truck to transport it. Hence, we decided not to cooperate with private sides, and now we manage it by themselves

For umpteenth time, Jakarta Provincial Government received grants in form of three dump trucks type Hino from PT Bank Mandiri. The grant was symbolically handed over by Director of PT Bank Mandiri, Budi Gunadi Sadikin to Jakarta Vice Governor, Basuki 'Ahok' T Purnama at City Hall, Monday (9/1).

The aid is not the first time received by Jakarta government. At least, 75 trucks was been received from various private companies and entrepreneurs in the capital.

City Gets 53 Garbage Trucks from PERHIT

The man who popularly called as Ahok disclosed that the current amount of garbage truck in the city is still lacking. Ideally, the its amount should be 700 units because of waste volume in Jakarta has reached 8,700 tons per day. "Indeed, the waste volume keeps rampant, yet we don't have enough truck to transport it. Hence, we decided not to cooperate with private sides, and now we manage it by themselves," he explained.

Since last one year, Jakarta government has established a contract with private sides. To meet dump trucks, besides using the City Budget (APBD), the private sides were asked to contribute in its funding. "Our target is 700 old dump trucks can be rejuvenated," he expressed.

He continued that the current condition of dump trucks is unworthy and not having a water holding for used waste water thus the water spills out into the street. "It caused rotten smell and has been protested by citizens of Bekasi City," he stated.

Basuki encouraged entrepreneurs or private companies who want to contribute for the city cleanliness can distribute dump truck. "Yes, I want them to give us at least one or two trucks," he exclaimed.

PT Bank Mandiri Director, Budi Gunadi Sadikin disclosed his side deliberately gave three dump trucks because he wants to contribute to the cleanliness of the city. Moreover, he also has many branch offices in the capital. "We want to participate in overcoming waste volume in Jakarta, because we're also looking to eat here," he said.

He told that the price of a dump truck is Rp 300 million thus he spent less than Rp 1 billion to purchase such trucks. The handover process marked by three dump trucks through signing of transferring assets by Head of Jakarta Financial Management Body (BPKD), Endang Widjajanti and Corporate Secretary of PT Bank Mandiri Persero Tb, Nixon LP Napitupulu.

As known, of 801 dump trucks owned today, 510 of them are unworthy. Previously, 67 percent of waste transportation was conducted private companies. But on December 31, 2013, its contract with 24 companies had stopped.
