The retaining wall of water channel on Jalan Abdul Muis, Gambir, Central Jakarta, is damaged due to old age. To repair it, local Water Management Public Works Sub-Department is changing its material from initially river stones to concrete.
The retaining wall’s is already dozens of years. That’s why it must be re-optimized
The retaining wall is reinforced with concrete for as long as two kilometers, starting from Budi Kemuliaan Hospital traffic light until behind Coordinating Ministry in Social Welfare Sector office. The project is targeted to finish this year.
Head of Central Jakarta Water Management Public Works Sub-Department, Herning Wahyuningsih, said the retaining wall of water channel on Jalan Abdul Muis is reinforced with concrete to strengthen its function, which is to accept water flows from main roads, namely Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat and Jalan Abdul Muis.
Sekretaris River Embankment Concreted“The retaining wall’s is already dozens of years. That’s why it must be re-optimized,” she stated, Monday (9/1).
In this project, Wahyuningsih disclosed that her party meets some obstacles. One of those obstacles is that on the lane to be reinforced with concrete stood two buildings, a restaurant and a car saloon.
“We have coordinated with Central Jakarta Mayor and the building owners to demolish their buildings,” she told.
The other obstacle is the existence of poles belong to PT Telkom on that lane.
“We’re also currently communicating with PT Telkom to remove the poles,” added Wahyuningsih.
