East Jakarta Mayor Boosts Tree Plantation to Improve Air Quality

East Jakarta Mayor Muhammad Anwar took his time to plant Bougainville and Tabebuya trees on the yard of his office, after the morning ceremony on Monday (8/19).  

We plant 36 trees, consisting of 16 trees type Tabebuya and 20 trees type Bougainville 

Its plantation was based on Gubernatorial Instruction No. 66/2019 on Air Quality Control issued by Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan to strengthen the measures to curb air pollution.

"We plant 36 trees, consisting of 16 trees type Tabebuya and 20 trees type Bougainville which are deemed to have the ability to absorb pollutants with high category of 45.44 micrograms/gram," he expressed.

Similar action will be continued to other places such as sub-agency offices, sub-district offices, urban village offices and schools.

East Jakarta Forestry Sub-agency Head, Aris Firmansyah targeted to plant 4,000 Bougainville trees this year along Jalan Soemarno, Jalan Halim Perdanakusuma, Jalan DI Panjaitan and several other points.

"We also invite local residents to do this," he stated.
