IPA SWRO Construction in Thousand Islands Has Reached 30 Percent

The construction of three water treatment plants (IPA) with seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) system in Thousand Islands has reached 30 percent. They are built on Tidung Island, Lancang Island and Kelapa Island with distribution coverage up to Harapan Island.

"The focus of work lies on construction and mechanical electrical," expressed Jakarta Water Resources Agency's Raw Water, Clean Water and Wastewater Division Head, Nelson Simanjuntak, Monday (9/16).

In this work, his side also increases the coverage of the IPA network on Pramuka Island and Panggang Island, which were constructed last year.

"The progress of the additional pipelines is currently around 50 percent," he explained.

The work itself was previously also carried out on resident islands in order to provide an access for islanders to get clean water for their daily needs.

"We inject clean water for them and also support the tourism sector there," he told.

He is optimistic that it can be complete in the forthcoming December.

"We will complete this work according to the deadline," he stated.
