September 20-22, Maritime Festival to Present Variety of Thousand Islands Culinary Dishes

Thousand Islands Maritime Agriculture and Food Security (KPKP) Sub-department to serve variety of Thousand Islands culinary dishes at International Maritime Festival at Tidung Island on September 20-22, 2019.

In this festival, we will introduce 19 typical culinary dishes of Thousand Islands people

Thousand Islands KPKP Sub-department's Food Security and Agriculture Section Head, Astri Ilhamsyah mentioned to provide 12 bazaar tents that will be installed near Jembatan Cinta (Love Bridge) of Tidung Island.

"In this festival, we will introduce 19 typical culinary dishes of Thousand Islands people made by groups under KPKP Sub-department," she explained, Tuesday (9/17).

According to her, those typical culinary dishes are made by local residents in six urban villages of Thousand Islands, such as telur sayur, celorot, ketan panggang (grilled sticky rice), kerupuk anggur laut (sea grapes crackers), ikan selar crispy (crispy yellowstripe scad), stik cumi (squid stick), kerupuk cumi (squid crackers), keripik sukun (breadfruit chips), manisan rumput laut (seaweed confectionery), teri nasi, herbal drinks, peyek, fish meatball, sate gepuk, pastel ikan and others.

"We will provide two tents for each urban village. Each tents can be used to display 4-6 culinary dishes," he mentioned.

His side also prepares camping ground at Agro Wisata of Tidung Kecil Island that is used for Maritime Festival visitors' basecamp. Visitors can use this chance to explore Tidung Kecil Island with its natural conservation.

"Hopefully culinary dishes served in this bazaar can support local cultural values and its theme and activities to support our tourism sector and local's economy," he said.
