Illegal Building Stood on Jakarta Provincial Government’s Land

Weak supervision done by the apparatus often makes the land belongs to Jakarta Provincial Government being occupied by the residents.

For instance is the land on Jalan Swadharma Raya, RT 06/04, Petukangan Utara Urban Village, Pesanggrahan Sub-District, South Jakarta. On this 2,000-square meter wide land belongs to Jakarta Parks and Cemeteries Department, stood a semi-permanent building used as a workshop.

“That building (workshop) has been stood there for a year. Whereas, we have asked the sub-district party to build an interactive park on that land,” said Muhammad (42), a local, Friday (9/5).

Based on beritajakarta.com observations, the semi-permanent building is fenced with zinc colored green and white. Inside, there are two cars, workers doing their activities, and drill irons seen around.

“This is workshop for pile drill pipes. It has existed since 2013. To build building on this land, my boss pays rent to an officer initialed S in Jakarta Parks and Cemeteries Department,” disclosed a worker who refused to mention his name.

Responding on this matter, Head of Pesanggrahan Sub-District, Eko Suroyo, confirmed that the land indeed belongs to Jakarta Parks and Cemeteries Department.

“That (land) belongs to Jakarta Parks and Cemeteries Department, who knows about the land’s status. I’ve asked sub-district parks section to check the status and information of this land, then action would be taken,” he stated.
