11 Parking Meter Machines will Be Installed on Jalan Agus Salim

The implementation of parking meter system trial on Jalan Agus Salim or called as Sabang will be applied in the third week of September. As many as 11 machines of parking meter will be planned to be installed along 500 meters in such road.

In addition, the road will also be equipped with 6 close circuit televisions (CCTV) cameras. As planned, the trial would take place over three months.

Head of Parking Technical Management Unit for Jakarta Transportation Department, Sunardi Sinaga disclosed at this time, his party is conducting preparation for parking meter system trial. At least approximately one week is needed to prepare facilities and infrastructures, such as the installation of machinery and CCTV.

In Mid-September, Parking Meter Trial on Jalan Sabang Imposed

   

He continued that installation of 11 machines of parking meters and 6 CCTV cameras is a means in the implementation of the parking meter system. Every parking meter machine, can detect 10-15 four-wheel vehicles.

Parking meter trial in Sabang area will be a pilot project for other areas. After trial is done, the next step is evaluation process. If it was successful, similar thing would also be applied in areas that have on-street parking system. 

According to him, his party has also held socialiation to parking attendant on Jalan Sabang. This is because as the vanguard in the implementation of the parking meter system. Later on, they are prohibited from receiving money parking again.

"We've held socialization to parking attendant related with the function of machine, work patterns, officers, supervision, until payroll method. Principally, all been supportive," he added.

Tariff for parking meter system is still being reviewed. Its amount is between Rp 4,000-Rp 5,000. The parking meter facility users will be charged every hour and its multiple.

"Tariff will be set through the machine. Method of payment must use the card thus the users can top up at a bank or places specified," he said.

In future, his party plans to select the parking attendant in Jakarta. Considering its wage would be increased twofold of the Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) or about Rp 4 million. "During trial, we will conduct the auction process of investment," he uttered.
