Bina Marga Supports Air Quality Improvement in Jakarta

Civil apparatuses and employees of Jakarta Bina Marga Department are instructed to use public transport, bicycle, eco-friendly or low emission vehicles every Tuesday in order to support air quality improvement in Jakarta.

This instruction is regulated through Jakarta Bina Marga Department Head Instruction No. 21/2019 about Implementing Jakarta Governor Instruction No. 66/2019 related to Air Quality Control.

Jakarta Bina Marga Department Head, Hari Nugroho stated, through policy that raises theme 'DBM Concerns to Air Quality' his side wants to be a role model while encouraging people to use public transport, bicycle, or eco-friendly vehicles to reduce air pollution caused by motor vehicles.

"It needs all sides involvement in order to repair air quality in Jakarta. Including ASN in Jakarta Government, especially Bina Marga Department," he asserted, Tuesday (10/8).

In this instruction, ASNs are also required to use bicycle or low emission vehicles when they conduct field observations with a short distance radius.

"For example to check sidewalks and roads. Short distance radius is between 05-10 kilometers," he informed.

Besides, this instruction also requires cycling sport and field observation conducted by Bina Marga Department Head every Friday morning.

In detail, Bina Marga Department and Central Jakarta Bina Marga Sub-department Heads should check roads and sidewalk condition in Central Jakarta on the first and third week.

"On second and fourth week, Bina Marga Sub-departments in West Jakarta, North Jakarta, South Jakarta and East Jakarta will unite with Bina Marga PPP Management Unit and Bina Marga Alkal Unit," he added.

Its schedule will be informed by Bina Marga Department's General and Employee Sub-division Head who acts as Bina Marga Department Bapor Korpri Head maximum H-1 before the activity.

"This regulation is binding because there are sanctions for those who violate it, such as first and second reprimands. It is valid until undetermined time," he conveyed.
