Batik Day, Anies Wants Cycling to Be a Daily Lifestyle in Jakarta

Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan invites the ranks of the Jakarta Provincial Government to cycle from the Jakarta City Hall's pavilion, Central Jakarta to the Jalan Gajah Mada, Krukut Urban Village, Taman Sari, West Jakarta, on Wednesday (10/2).

It is the city's commitment to participate in encouraging emissions-free transportation, like a bike as a means that can be used with any costume, including batik.

"Today, along with City Secretary and SKPD Head, including agency until bureau, we cycled while wearing batik shirt," he stated, at Gajah Mada Foodstreet, Krukut Urban Village, Taman Sari, West Jakarta, as quoted from Jakarta PPID's press release.

To celebrate National Batik Day, it can be done in various ways, one of which is cycling with batik shirt. In the future, he hoped the biker can combine with a variety of costumes, including getting used to being proud using batik.

"We usually ride bikes using special clothes, glasses and shoes, yet we can match them with any costume," he told.

He explained the bike trip from the City Hall could be taken approximately 3.6 kilometers until Jalan Gajah Mada takes 30 minutes. It was taken casually with several officials of the regional working units (SKPD).

"We hope that many people use bikes for their daily activities," he stated.

As for the information, some officials who participated in cycling with the governor are Jakarta Administration Assistant Artal Reswan; Governor for Development and Environment Yusmada Faizal; Jakarta Communication, Informatics and Public Relations Agency Head Atika Nur Rahmania; Jakarta Satpol PP Head Arifin; and Jakarta Forestry Agency Head Suzi Marsitawati.
