Phase 2 Bicycle Lane Trial, Anies Expects More Bicycle Users in Jakarta

In order to create Jakarta as a bicycle-friendly city, today Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan tests the Phase 2 bicycle lane by cycling along 23 kilometers from Fatmawati, South Jakarta to Jalan Sudirman, Central Jakarta on Saturday (10/12) morning.

Anies together with other related SKPDs, cyclist communities, celebrities and influencers, started to test the bicycle lane from Blok M direction of Fatmawati intersection. In this trial, his side stopped in Cipete MRT Station to inspect bicycle parking provided by MRT Jakarta.

Then, his side continued to pass Senayan MRT Station until Jalan Sudirman and cycled around Bundaran HI roundabout and stopped at Kendal Tunnel near BNI City Station.

"Thank you for all of your participation in Bicycle-Friendly Jakarta Program. We want to make our citizens to enjoy more happiness through cycling," he said as quoted from Jakarta PPID Press Conference.

He conveyed, in this second trial of bicycle lane, it seems far but very entertaining. Moreover, go to places using bicycle is a healthy life choice and not polluting the air. Jakarta Government will continue to facilitate cyclists thus they can be more comfort to travel the capital city.

"Bicycle is a mean of transportation that is healthy and not polluting the air. Thus, we will build more bicycle lanes. Hopefully it can encourage more people to use it," he stated.

His side also hopes more residents to use bicycle lanes. Especially, after those bicycle lanes have been sterilized from other vehicles, people will be more comfort to go cycling in Jakarta.

"We want more bicycle users to utilize bicycle lanes in Jakarta for getting bicycle lanes sterilized," he mentioned.
