Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan inaugurated the members of Jakarta Wage Council for the period 2019-2022 at Great Hall, Jakarta City Hall, on Wednesday (23/10).

It was also attended by Jakarta Manpower and Transmigration Agency Head Andri Yansyah and his ranks.

In his speech, the governor gives his appreciation to the Manpower and Transmigration Agency's plan to symbolically hold the inauguration.

"As I heard these members have never been inaugurated, that's why we do this today," he expressed, as quoted by the Jakarta PPID's press release.

According to him, they have complete elements, starting from the employment ecosystem, which includes elements of employers, government, workers, academics, and researchers from the Central Statistics Agency. By so they are very instrumental to help in determining wage-related policies.

"Hopefully it will be the government's partner in formulating policies related to wages in Jakarta," he explained.

This wage board involvement in determining policies related to wages in Jakarta is important, as the city has implications for national policy. Wages in Jakarta will also be a wage barometer in the regions.

"And we want this to be a place where various factors in determining wages are well considered, as it has national implications," he stated.
