485 Firefighters Alerted to Face Flooding in East Jakarta

As many as 485 firefighters of East Jakarta Fire and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-department have been prepared to face inundation and flooding in the upcoming rainy season. They will be alerted in 10 Sub-district Gulkarmat Sector offices.

"To anticipate flooding, our men will be on standby for 24 hours," expressed East Jakarta Fire and Rescue Sub-department Acting Head, Muchtar Zakaria, Friday (11/15).

To support them, his side prepares 51 rubber boats, 23 fiber boats, 6 floating pumps, 87 life jackets and 114 paddles. There are also 37 mobile pumps alerted in such offices.

His side also has 9 rescue teams in Pulogadung, Jatinegara, Duren Sawit, Ciracas, Cipayung sub-districts and three other teams in the Sub-district Gulkarmat Sector offices.

"Generally those supporting infrastructures are ready to operate at any time needed," he said.
