City Inaugurates Sahabat Wanita and Anak Post

Jakarta will continue to be committed in addition to encouraging people to switch from private vehicles to public transportation

The Jakarta Provincial Government increasingly emphasized its commitment to continue to be a Province of Women and Children. One of them is by developing a mass public transportation ecosystem that is friendly to women and children through the Sahabat Wanita and Anak Posts in all MRT and LRT stations, including Transjakarta bus stops.

It was realized in the signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the city and public transportation, MRT Jakarta, LRT Jakarta and Transjakarta, Tuesday (12/10) in the Kendal Tunnel, Central Jakarta. It was witnessed directly by 900 women and children protection ambassadors.

Socialization of Anti-Violence Against Women and Children Intensified

The existence of Sahabat Perempuan and Anak Posts was also to follow up on the Gubernatorial Decree number 1107/2019 on changes to the Gubernatorial Decision number 1043/2018 on the List of Regional Strategic Activities in Point 13 on Protection and Prevention of Violence Against Women and Children.

"Through MoU signing, the message is that Jakarta will continue to be committed in addition to encouraging people to switch from private vehicles to public transportation while at the same time proving that Jakarta is a city that is friendly to women and children," disclosed Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan, as quoted by the Jakarta PPID's press release.

He stated that the meaning of friends in the Sahabat Wanita and Anak Post was part of the city's effort to develop awareness of the importance of protection for women and children. Apart from serving passively, the post officers would also be active in campaigning anti-violence against women and children.

"We have to see them (women and children) as our mother and kid, this commitment must be in our person and we hope that all stations, bus stops and its officers have pins thus it will give a safe feeling of all our transportation users," he advised.

Jakarta Empowerment, Child Protection and Population Control Agency (DPPAPP) Head Tuty Kusumawati uttered that complaints at the post would be integrated with the city's existing complaints system. There would be three types of services in each station and bus stop.

"We have three services that have been standardized ISO 9001-2015 including Complaints, Psychological assistance, legal assistance services, other services are hospitals related to free post mortem and assistance to the police," she explained, while adding that the post will later be available at 240 bus stops, 6 LRT stations and 13 MRT stations.
