Ahead of Christmas, Jakarta Government collaborates with the communities to enliven the Christmas in public spaces of Jakarta.

This event is similar to several religious holidays that have been celebrated before such as Jakarta Muharram Festival 2019 for Muslims and Deepavali 2019/5121 Kaliyuga for Indian-Hindus.

"Jakarta Government wants to enliven Christmas similar to Christmas Carol in several developed countries, where there are Christmas-themed musical performances in several spots within the city. We want to emphasize that Jakarta belongs to all. We want to create an atmosphere of togetherness and brotherhood in Jakarta. In the past, we also celebrated other religious holidays. It shows that Jakarta is a city for all, a city with social justice," Hendra Hidayat, Head of Jakarta Spiritual Education and Mental Bureau as quoted from Jakarta PPID Press Conference, Wednesday (12/18).

Ahead of Christmas and New Year, Dishub Carries Out Ramp Check for Buses

This December, people can enjoy Christmas Carol, a musical performance from communities and student choirs from UKUiki, Bluenotes Band, Enjoyable Choir, Mission Youth for Christ Choir (UPH), and PSM UNPAR who sing Christmas songs.

There are 11 spots of Christmas Carol along Jalan Sudirman - MH. Thamrin and MRT Stations, on December 18-20, at 5 PM-7 PM.

They will perform on the front of Grand Hyatt Hotel, Kendal Tunnel, Dukuh Atas Park, in front of Sampoerna Building, in front of FX Senayan Mall, in front of Mayapada Building (starting this Friday), in front of Panin (starting this Friday), Bundaran HI MRT Station, Istora MRT Station, Blok M MRT Station, Cipete Raya MRT Station.

Moreover, Jakartans can also enjoy viewing 10-meter Christmas Tree at Thamrin 10 and Banteng Park on December 18-31, 2019. This tree is made from recycled bottles and patchwork with theme of Nusantara by Tarakanita Elementary students in Jakarta and Catholic Archdiocese of Jakarta.
