BPBD: Number of Flood Evacuees is Decreasing

Jakarta Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) announced number of flood victims who evacuated to the shelters has decreased from 31,000 to 12,491 people.

This data can fluctuate

Jakarta BPBD's Disaster Data and Information Center (Pusdatin) Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) Head, Muhammad Ridwan, said 31,000 flood victims evacuated to 84 shelters in 23 sub-districts by yesterday.

"This data can fluctuate. Maybe it could be reduced later. For now, most of them clean their houses. Some of them return to the shelter," he said at Jakarta City Hall, Friday (1/3).

According to him, municipality with the highest flood evacuees is in East Jakarta with total 5,412 people in 34 shelters. Followed by South Jakarta with total 3,254 evacuees in 25 shelters.

Next is North Jakarta with total 1,700 evacuees in 10 shelters; West Jakarta with 1,554 evacuees in 6 shelters; and North Jakarta with 571 evacuees in 10 shelters.

"Most flood points have receded and inundation on the road are mostly below 10 centimeters," he informed.
