Anies Attends RTM to Report the Latest Condition of Flood Victim Shelters

Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan attended Minister Level Coordination Meeting (RTM) related flood handling in Jakarta, Banten, and West Java at Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture (PMK) Office, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (1/7).

Most evacuees have returned to their homes since January 2, 2020

In this meeting, his side is focus on handling the flood comprehensively and ensures rehabilitation runs completely.

He also reported the latest condition of flood victim shelters in regions that affected by flood. He informed that most evacuees have returned to their homes on the seventh day.

Citizens Appreciate Anies to Help Cleaning Environment After Flood

"Most evacuees have returned to their homes since January 2, 2020. At that time, total 36.445 people were evacuated and placed in 247 shelters. Today, it remains 7 shelters with total 690 evacuees," he said as quoted from Jakarta PPID Press Conference.

Anies asserted, there are no evacuees who stay for 24 hours. Most shelters are used for people to take a rest during post-flood cleaning.

"I need to inform you that since the fourth day, there are no evacuees who stay in the shelter for 24 hours. Shelter's function is only as a resting place because after flood receded on the third day, they have returned to clean their homes, then eat and take a rest in the shelter," he added.

Regional Governments (Banten, West Java, and DKI Jakarta)'s fast response in handling flood disaster and evacuees mitigation were appreciated by PMK Economy Minister, Muhadjir Effendy who assessed that each Regional Government have worked well in managing the flood from December 31 to January 1, 2020.

"Thus, on behalf of Central Government, I convey my gratitude for Regional Government's fast response, accuracy, and seriousness in managing flood and the victims well," he stated.
