MRT Jakarta and PT. KAI Sign Agreement for Station Arrangement

President Directors of PT. MRT Jakarta, William P. Sabandar and PT. KAI, Edi Sukmoro together with Jakarta Transportation Department (Dishub) Head, Syafrin Liputo signed an agreement regarding shareholders and integrated station arrangement at BUMN Ministry Office, Friday (1/10).

We name it PT. Moda Integrasi Transportasi Jabodetabek

PT. MRT Jakarta President Director, William P. Sabandar conveyed, his side has agreed with PT. KAI to establish joint venture with 51 percent share of PT. MRT Jakarta and 49 percent share of PT. KAI.

"We name it PT. Moda Integrasi Transportasi Jabodetabek and its first task for the next six months is to perform integration study and transit oriented development (TOD)," he said.

For the next three months, he added, this joint venture should arrange Senen Station, Tanah Abang Station, Juanda Station, and Sudirman Station. But, until now his side hasn't found the investment value of this joint venture yet, because it is still under study.

PT. KAI President Director, Edi Sukmoro added, his side will develop station area and integrate it with train transportation within the city.

"We are optimistic this plan can reduce traffic congestion and benefits Jakarta," he said.

Through this cooperation, his side is responsible to improve infrastructure in the stations, manage passengers and vehicles circulation, and access permission.

Meanwhile, Transportation Minister, Budi Karya Sumadi mentioned, PT. KAI has served 1.2 million passengers every day or 25 percent of total public transportation users.

"This joint venture becomes the starting point for the intermode transport development. In other words, institution becomes important in order to develop integrated station," he mentioned.
