Dozens of AIESEC Students Study Urban Farming in Central Jakarta

Dozens of students from Germany, India, Korea, Malaysia, China and Bahrain who are members of the International Internationale des Etudiants en Sciences Economiques et Commerciale (AIESEC) visited the pilot location of urban farming and green alley in Cempaka Putih Timur, Central Jakarta, on Thursday (1/16).

Sonia, one of Germany students admitted she was amazed when she visited the green alley at the location. Locals were very creative using narrow land for urban farming.

Tens Foreign Youths Learn About Urban Farming in Jakarta

"I want to implement it in my country, as we have to buy all vegetables at the market. But here we just pick it," she expressed.

At the same time, Cempaka Putih Sub-district Head Andri Ferdian expressed that the comparative study group consisted of six foreign students and six companion students from Prasetya Mulya University.

"This is the second time they have come. Urban farming becomes a means of education and tourism promotion. We can maximize our small yard to be useful," he stated.

Cempaka Putih Green Leaf Farmers Group Chairman Ardian Sudiana added that many students were enthusiastic about learning urban farming.

"We're consistently running urban farming. They are interested in learning here," he stated.
