Commission D Wants Monas Revitalization to Run Well

Jakarta Council (DPRD) Commission D held a meeting with Land Spatial Planning and Build Work (CKTRP) Department and related stakeholders to discuss about Monas revitalization.

Commission D Chairperson, Ida Mahmudah mentioned, legislators want to ensure Monas revitalization to run well in accordance with Presidential Decree (Keppres) No. 25/1995 regarding Development of Medan Merdeka Are in the Special Capital Region of Jakarta.

"In the near future, we will invite PT. Bahana Prima Nusantara as the contractor for Monas revitalization project," she stated, Wednesday (2/12).

She reminds executive for not changing the historical elements of Monas during the revitalization project. However, she supports executive to repair Monas as one of educational tourist destinations that can be enjoyed by tourists and Jakartans.

"Monas is a part of Indonesian history whose construction was initiated by the first President of Republic of Indonesia, Soekarno. We mustn't change the history," she asserted.

Meanwhile, Jakarta CKTRP Department Head, Heru Hermawanto explained, Jakarta Government created Detail Engineering Design (DED) from revitalization design made by Deddy Wahjudi who won the Monas Revitalization Contest.

"We should analyze the design's concept since it is still macro or general. After making DED, we continue to hold auction for Monas revitalization project," he said.

According to him, his side made several adjustments from the initial design to make it more detail.

"After revitalization, we plan to increase green area in Monas, from 53 percent into 64 percent," he conveyed.
