Mosque Imams to Be Departed for Umrah This Year

The Jakarta Provincial Government is going to collaborate with Jakarta Indonesian Mosque Council (DMI) to provide umrah (minor hajj) for mosque caretakers (locally known as marbot) and majelis taklim (Quran study group) caretakers.

Jakarta Bureau of Mental and Spiritual Education (Dikmental) Head, Hendra Hidayat said, in this year, his side will depart 267 marbut caretakers, 150 majelis taklim caretakers and 100 mosque imams.
"To realize it, we want to use this year budget in the amount of Rp 14.48 billion that will be granted to the Jakarta DMI. We will cover all their needs," he expressed, Friday (2/14).

He explained the departure is scheduled after Idul Adha. The selection process is through the administrators of the urban village and sub-district mosque councils who submitted the recipients to depart.
The requirement is every recipient must have been recorded as recipients of grant aid, as well as has a letter of recommendation from the Mosque Prosperity Board (DKM) and PM 1 from the urban village.
"As another condition, they have been at least serving themselves in the mosque for five years," he stated.
