PPKUKM Inspects Gold Scales and Measurement Tools at Cikini Gold Center

Jakarta Industry, Trade, Cooperative, Small and Medium Enterprises (PPKUKM) Department together with Trade Ministry's Metrology Directorate held an inspection to monitor scales and measurement tools used for gold at Gold Center, Menteng, Central Jakarta.

Jakarta PPKUKM Department Head, Elizabeth Ratu Rante Allo conveyed, her side took samples from 12 gold/jewellery shops. From those samples, there are 5 of 12 shops whose gold scales without permit.

"7 shops have gold scales and measuring instruments that in accordance with applicable rules while the other 5 shops don't," she informed, Thursday (2/20).

According to her, scales that are not in accordance with applicable rules will be destroyed because it is potential to disadvantage the customers.

"This inspection is a part of our coaching. We are pleased that the owner of the invalid gold scales want to destroy it voluntarily," she added.

In this inspection, PPKUKM Department and Meteorology Directorate also socialized gold merchants about Law (UU) No. 2/1981 that regulates the Legal Meteorology.

"We want gold merchants in Jakarta to use scales and measurement tools in accordance with the applicable regulation," she mentioned.
