City Continues to Anticipate Floods

We are working to minimize water volume at Manggarai to anticipate flash floods from upstream

The Jakarta Provincial Government continues to take anticipatory steps to address the potential for flash floods, following Katulampa dam in Bogor, West Jakarta sets alert status or III status.

Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said, at 1:32 PM, water volume at Manggarai sluice gate is still normal or IV status with water level of 695 cm.

"We are working to minimize water volume at Manggarai to anticipate flash floods from upstream. The peak of incoming water from Katulampa dam is expected to reach Jakarta today at around 2 PM to 4 PM.

He explained Katulampa had touched 150 cm at 4 PM for two hours and gradually receded at 9 AM or returned to normal status or IV status.

"We have also provided information to citizens, especially those living near the river to be more vigilant," he explained.

Fortunately the seawater was not tide. Thus the process of minimizing water volume could be done quickly to minimize the potential for flooding.

"InsyaAllah we're ready to anticipate flash floods from upstream. Hopefully it can be anticipated," he hoped.
