As city’s icon, the National Monument (Monas), Central Jakarta, is visited by many people not only from Jakarta but also from other regions in Indonesia. Wawan (46), resident of Petojo Selatan Urban Village, Gambir Sub-District, Central Jakarta, complained the suboptimal lightings in Monas area. According to him, it would trigger criminality and other negative actions at night.

Dozens of PMKS in Monas NettedResponding this matter, Head of Central Jakarta Industry and Energy Sub-Department, Iswandi, explained that since Monas Implementation Unit (UP) is formed, his department no longer has the authority to resolve poor condition of lightings in that tourism area.
“We admitted that about 2,000 lamps in Monas are dead. We have handed out its management to Monas UP,” he stated.
