DPRD Building Needs to Be Repaired

The condition of Jakarta City Council (DPRD) building, Jalan Kebon Sirih, Central Jakarta, which has been used for two years is damaged. Hence, Head of Jakarta Housing and Government Building Department, Jonathan Pasodung has instructed the contractor who built the building to repair the building. Its damage is not too severe, thus it does not significantly affect the building structures.

"We must be able to distinguish between the damage of architectural with structure. Architectural damage is like a ceramic has dislodged yet it could still be repaired. The damage depends on the maintenance," said Pasodung, at City Hall, Monday (9/29).

He disclosed that his department only have the authority on the building construction, instead of building maintenance. The maintenance itself lies in every related unit. "We only focus on building construction, where its maintenance lies in Council Secretary and general bureau," he told.

While Council Secretary of Jakarta DPRD, Mangara Pardede admitted DPRD building maintenance is not his responsibility. "This is the responsibility of Housing and Government Buildings Department, not us," he answered.

As for the information, DPRD building that was inaugurated in 2012 is damaged in some parts, starting from broken plafond, dusty glass, elevator button already loose, cracked lift's floors, until broken toilet.

The worst damage is spotted on the 8th floor occupied by PDIP Fraction and 5th floor occupied by Hanura Fraction. The location is side by side with old building. This 11-storey building was built with fund as much as Rp 500 billion.
