December, Repair Work on Damaged Sheet Piles in C. Jakarta Completed

Repair work on some damaged sheet piles and drains keep being accelerated by Central Jakarta Administration in a bid to anticipate flooding. Its process is targeted to be completed in the upcoming December.

Head of Central Jakarta Water Management Public Works Sub-Department, Herning Wahyuningsih disclosed repair work which focused on Jalan Abdul Muis as well as Utan Kayu and Citarum Connecting Channels, Central Jakarta, will be completed this year.

"Our completion target is on December 15, 2014," she told, Friday (9/19).

She uttered, the repair is still constrained with some buildings. If it is continued, the buildings will collapse. "We have discussed it with mayor, building owners, and they already know," he expressed.

She added repair work on sheet pile at Citarum's connecting channels on Jalan Cempaka Putih Raya is also constrained with poles owned by the State-owned electricity company PT PLN. Her sub-department has also coordinated with related unit.

"The PLN said they need time, whereas we have warned them since the beginning of the year. But until now, the poles have not been moved, because if anything happens there will be compensation," stated Wahyuningsih.
