Don't Underestimate Threat of COVID-19, Anies Says

Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan, warned citizens to strictly follow government policies to maintain physical distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic in Jakarta.

He assessed physical distancing step was deemed appropriate as it can prevent transmission if done seriously.

"I know it is hard, moreover the case keeps increasing. So I need your participation to seriously respond it, don't underestimate threat of COVID-19," he expressed, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release, Monday (3/30).

He went on to say that the increasing cases would strongly trigger cases of death in the capital. This showed an alarming situation in Jakarta.

"283 is not a statistical number. That is our citizens who were healthy last month, can do activities. They have children, wives, siblings and these must be prevented seriously by limiting any activities outside the house. So stay home, protect yourself, family, neighbors and all," he asserted in a trembling voice.

By so, he uttered the death rate from this outbreak would be dropped significantly.

"Let's all have responsibilities. This why we feel the need to deliver a very strong message to the whole community about this matter," he said.
