City Receives Support to Contain Spread of COVID-19 from KADIN & Buddha Tza Chi

This is the support given from our friends in the business world for us to face the spread of COVID-19

The Jakarta Provincial Government, received aid from several companies incorporated in the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) together with Buddha Tzu Chi Indonesia Foundation and PT Unilever Indonesia in an effort to limit the spreading of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The aid was symbolically represented by KADIN Chairman Rosan P Roeslani to Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan at Jakarta City Hall's Pendopo (Pavilion), Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Gambir, Central Jakarta, on Friday (4/3).

"This is the support given from our friends in the business world for us to face the spread of COVID-19. They give us masks and protective coveralls for medical workers, including COVID-19 testing kits. We really appreciate it. We also send them to other cities outside Jakarta," expressed the governor, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release.

He said that the COVID-19 pandemic was a humanitarian challenge facing the world and requires mutual solidarity to help each other with resources in each region.

"With this support, we can campaign for the spirit of cooperation and mutual support. Let's fight the spread of the virus by doing physical distancing and stay at home," he explained.

He assessed, the current economic situation and challenges in the business world were not easy. It was different compared to other crises, as demand and supervision have problems, so the market is disrupted from both sides.

"Thank you for your contribution. Aside that, there is also a small amount of responsibility that you have, as hundreds of thousands of families depend on the big decisions you make in the business world in the weeks ahead. Hopefully you are all given the ease, the strength to go through this difficult time, thanks again," he explained.

On that occasion, Indonesian KADIN Chairman Rosan P Roeslani explained that the business community at various levels was committed to jointly the government in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic in Jakarta. Besides the government, this was also the responsibility of the private sector and all components of society.

"Hopefully our togetherness can continue to be fostered as these are difficult and hard times," he stressed.

As for the information, the Indonesian KADIN through PT Unilever Indonesia handed over aid in the form of as hand sanitizers, soaps, home hygiene care products, as well as food-beverage packages for medical workers worth Rp 10 billion. There were also 105,000 masks, 300 protective coveralls and 100,000 rapid testing kits from Buddha Tzu Chi Indonesia Foundation.
