"We start to socialize our passengers about the obligation to use mask when traveling using public transportation today on Monday (4/6). This regulation will be applied effectively starting on Sunday (4/12). We hope all passengers can understand the situation and carry out this instruction properly to reduce the risk of developing disease," he stated as quoted from Jakarta PPID Press Release.

He explained, when this policy applies, passengers who don't wear face mask are not allowed to take public transportation. He considered, it needs support from all parties and requires public awareness in preventing COVID-19 spread in Jakarta. He also hopes all residents in Greater Jakarta, especially in Jakarta, to comply and implement the policy properly.

"I have coordinated with Organda, PT. KCI, and PT. Railink to carry out Governor's instruction. Alhamdulillah, all sides showed their supports and commitment by requiring passengers to wear mask until the condition returns to normal," he stated.

Previously, Anies also issued Governor's Appeal Number 9/2020 regarding The Use of Face Mask in Preventing Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) When Doing Activities Outdoors.

In that circular, his side mentioned that cloth face mask can be an alternative solution for residents who don't have medical standard mask as an effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19 cases in the Capital City of Jakarta.
