City Commits to Focus on Handling COVID-19 Pandemic

Jakarta Provincial Government is committed to focus on handling coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic through various efforts, including reallocating budget that has an impact on changes in work plans that have been prepared and budgeted in city budget (APBD) 2020.

Bappeda focuses on developing an economic stimulus program

City's Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) Head, Nasruddin Djoko Surjono mentioned, number of activities and development budgets have been postponed or diverted to support optimization of COVID-19 handling.

"We predict the budget realization until the end of 2020 will be lower than last year," he stated, Thursday (4/16).

Due to COVID-19 pandemic, his side also predicted city's income tax including vehicle tax, hotel tax, restaurant tax, entertainment tax, and others will be declined.

"This problem is also experienced by other provinces, cities, and regencies in Indonesia. Jakarta Bappeda will continue to monitor current conditions in order to develop some development strategies in 2021 and thereafter," he explained.

According to him, Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan has instructed his side to compile the reallocation budget 2020 and budget allocation for security after COVID-19 pandemic ends.

"Hopefully COVID-19 can be handled well thus people can return to do their normal activities to restore the economy. Bappeda focuses on developing an economic stimulus program thus economy in the capital can return to normal," he asserted.

Meanwhile, he added, focus of future development work plans which are under discussion right now is urban resilience.

"Particularly, there are three sectors that should be concerned related to urban resilience in the capital, namely health, economy, and social," he closed.
