East Jakarta Satpol PP Uses Persuasive Approach in Monitoring PSBB Implementation

Satpol PP plays an important role in supporting local government in implementing Large-scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) in Jakarta. Together with TNI and Police, they socialize people about the importance of following PSBB regulations in order to prevent transmission of Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19).

East Jakarta Satpol PP's Operation Section Head, Badrudin mentioned, his side monitors PSBB implementation in residential areas within two shifts, 7 AM-12 PM at sub-district level and 4 PM-8 PM at urban village level.

"It involves Satpol PP, Sudinhub, and TNI/Police. We cooperate to ensure residents follow PSBB regulations," he asserted, Monday (4/20).

Officers Still Find PSBB Violators During Sweeping in Koja

According to him, up to this day residents are still unaware of the importance of implementing PSBB. Because his side still found people gathering more than 5 people in several places and people who do activities outside without wearing face mask.

"We give them warning and educate the violators in persuasive way. We disperse those groups of people and remind them not to gather because it is for our own safety in order to stop COVID-19 spread," he conveyed.

His side deployed 5 personnel at urban village level, 10-15 personnel at sub-district level, and 55 personnel at municipality city level with assistance from TNI/Police.

PSBB violations occur evenly in most regions, but the number of cases keeps declining.

"We also had to disperse crowd at public fishing area on Jl. KRT Radjiman, Jatinegara Urban Village, Cakung," he added.

He considered, the current condition is still conducive and personnel can handle PSBB violation on the field. Police officers are also responsive in taking decisive action for the criminals.
