Second Period of PSBB, Satpol PP will Impose Sanctions on Violators

Jakarta Pamong Praja Police Unit (Satpol PP) ensures to be strict to those who violate the regulations of the second period of Large-scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) in Jakarta which started from April 24 to May 22, 2020.

Jakarta Satpol PP Chairman, Arifin stated, on the first period, his side tended to educate the violators through socialization and advice. But in the second period, his side will impose sanctions for them.

"We have prepared ourselves to monitor people's activities in the second period of PSBB in order to prevent COVID-19 transmission more optimally.  For information, those who violate the regulation can be sentenced to one year imprisonment or maximum fine of Rp 100 million," he explained, Thursday (4/23).

On the first period of PSBB, he continued, business sectors that are not accordance with Pergub 33/2020 but still operating are only warned or closed temporarily by the authorities.

"But in the second period, excluded business sectors that continue to operate may have their business licenses revoked or even permanently closed," he asserted.

For evaluation of the first PSBB period, his side still found business sectors which violated the regulations.

"As well as drivers who don't wear masks, people who gather in groups, violators who evade the officers. Starting tomorrow, we will  take legal action," he stated.

His side has instructed Satpol PP at provincial, municipality, and regency levels to carry out raids during the second period of PSBB.

"I have a video meeting with Satpol PP Leaders in five municipalities, regency, and sub-districts to prepare action plans on the first day of second period of PSBB. Starting tomorrow, we will monitor and crack down on violations," he closed.
