From March to April 2020, Jakarta Environment (LH) Agency has collected and destroyed 202 kilograms of medical waste in the Dangerous and Toxic Material (B3) category.

Jakarta LH Agency Head, Andono Warih stated, his side has collected 33 kilograms medical waste from East Jakarta, 38 kilograms from South Jakarta, 54.52 kilograms from West Jakarta, and 47 kilograms from North Jakarta.
"Mostly it contains of disposable masks, gloves, and hazmat suits," he conveyed, Friday (5/8).

"We transport it using special vehicles for infectious waste. Personnel put the sorted medical waste to the special containers for infectious waste and spray it with disinfectant," he explained.
After arrived at TPS, infectious waste were sorted by types and labeled, then transported to the B3 waste disposal site at city level.
Currently, he added, Jakarta LH Agency has built cooperation with third party regarding infectious waste handling.
"Gradually, the third party will transport the medical waste into B3 waste disposal site at waste-to-energy plant (PLTSa) in Bantar Gebang Landfill to be processed further and destroyed," he mentioned.
According to him, Jakarta LH Agency has prepared supporting unit to manage B3, household, and medical waste by providing 42 motor carts and 5 box trucks for B3 waste. As well as 51 medical waste disposal sites in five municipalities and one regent.
"Standard operation procedure for collecting and transporting household medical waste are performed by our janitors according to health protection protocols," he closed.
