Thousand Islands' Waste is Reduced by 46.26 Percent

Thousand Islands Environment (LH) Sub-agency announced number of garbage collected during Large-scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) in Thousand Islands reduced by around 46.26 percent.

Amount of waste in average could reached 777,82 tons and now it reduced into 359.85 tons or around 46.26 percent

Thousand Islands LH Sub-agency Head, Djoko Rianto Budi Hartono stated, type of waste can be divided into floating waste or those at the coastline, sorted waste, tree pruning waste, and waste collected from communal work.

"Before city imposed PSBB and closed the tourist destinations, amount of waste in average could reached 777,82 tons and now it reduced into 359.85 tons or around 46.26 percent," he explained, Saturday (4/18).

Eight Garbage Bins Provided in Central Jakarta to Collect Medical Waste

It was total waste from March to mid of April, where people's activities are limited in Thousand Islands due to PSBB implementation.

"We are still operating garbage ships normally. But from total 24 ships, we only use 18 ships to collect the garbage from all inhabited islands due to decrease in waste volume," he stated.
