City Encourages Jakartans to Stay at Home and Suggests Virtual Homecoming

Jakarta Provincial Government affirmed that all activities in Jabodetabek (Greater Jakarta) should be in accordance with Large-scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) regulations. Thus, residents are appealed to stay at home to stop COVID-19 transmission.

We want all residents to stay at home, don't travel, especially on holiday

For information, Jakarta Government has issued Gubernatorial Regulation (Pergub) No. 47/2020 which regulates permit mechanism for Jakartans who want to travel out of Jabodetabek area or residents outside of Jabodetabek who want to enter Jakarta through Entrance-Exit Permit (SIKM) for Jakarta Province area. In this regulation, residents with Jabodetabek ID Card (KTP) don't need to take care of SIKM, but it should be underlined that activities in Jabodetabek are only permitted for essential needs and should refer to the PSBB regulations.

"It means, all residents should stay at home. Those who are allowed to travel are only residents whose work is related to 11 fundamental sectors. Eid or not, it applies the same. Virus don't care what day, nor holidays or weekdays, eid or not. Don't let the condition in Jabodetabek to return like in March and make our efforts for more than these two months to be wasted," said Anies Baswedan, Jakarta Governor, Saturday (5/16) as quoted from Jakarta PPID Press Release.

City Legislators Support Pergub No. 41/2020

Here are 11 sectors that allowed to operate during PSBB period:

1. Health

2. Groceries / Food and Beverages

3. Energy

4. Communication and Information Technology

5. Finance

6. Logistics

7. Hospitality

8. Construction

9. Strategic Industries

10. Basic Services, Public Utilities and Industries which determined as national vital objects and certain objects

11. Daily Needs

He reminds all residents to reduce outdoor activities and always implement COVID-19 prevention protocol.

"We want all residents to stay at home, don't travel, especially on holiday. It is the moment where we should to stay at home," he asserted.

Regarding local homecoming (Mudik), he appeals residents to stay at home. "No local homecoming. Only virtual homecoming is allowed," he stated.
