Anticipating Local Homecoming, Dishub Tightens Monitoring in Border Areas

Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) intensifies its guard on the border areas to anticipate local homecoming ahead of Eid al-Fitr.

Residents should be discipline in implementing PSBB

Regarding to this case, his side will intensify monitoring in 33 checkpoints as mentioned in Gubernatorial Regulation (Pergub) No. 33/2020 on Large-scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) Implementation in Handling COVID-19 in DKI Jakarta.

Jakarta Dishub Head, Syafrin Liputo conveyed, his side has coordinated with Traffic Directorate of Metro Jaya Regional Police (Polda Metro Jaya), West Java Government, and all Dishub in Jabodetabek to carry out this monitoring.

Social Sanctions Imposed for PSBB Violators in West Jakarta

"Of course, that Pergub becomes our reference. We agreed to tighten our monitoring because we understand well that Ramadan silaturahmi (meeting relatives and family for amicable gathering) is a quite strong tradition in Eid al-Fitr. But, we must realize that it is not safe for gathering in the midst of the pandemic," he asserted, Saturday (5/16).

He reminds residents to follow PSBB regulations. As long as Jabodetabek or Greater Jakarta regions are implementing PSBB, his side only permits road users who travel because of activities that are allowed in Pergub.

"If the reason is for homecoming, then it is not allowed. There are still several green areas in Jabodetabek and we want to avoid it. If you love your family, please don't do it," he asserted.

In the operation, if his side found road users who want to meet their relatives on Eid, his side will tell them to go back and not continue their trip.

"Now, Pergub No. 41/2020 has been issued. It regulates about sanctions for PSBB violators," he added.

He assessed, residents should be discipline in implementing PSBB. If they need to travel, it must be related to work which allowed in the regulation or to fulfill their needs of staple foods.

"We hope residents only travel for things that are considered important. We don't want PSBB period to be extended and hope the situation can return to normal. So, let us optimize it as an effort to handle and prevent COVID-19 transmission," he explained.
