8 Houses and 4 Motorcycles Burned in Jatinegara

At least four motorcycles and eight houses on Jalan Taman Cipinang, RT 04/06, Cipinang Muara Urban Village, Jatinegara Sub-District, East Jakarta, were burned to the ground by fire at around 5.45 AM, Monday (10/6). The fire was allegedly coming from electrical short circuit from a house which left empty by its occupants.

Temporary allegation, the fire was caused by electricity short circuit. There is no casualty in this incident, but the material losses are estimated around Rp 600 million

“The house was empty because the occupants going homecoming to Cirebon, West Java,” disclosed Rony (40), a local.

Susi (35), occupant of another rent house, told that when the fire broke out, she and her family were sleeping. She was shocked by shoutings from the people outside about the fire and then rushed out from her house. At that time, the fire has burned the rent house beside hers.

Fire in DPRD Building’s Basement Extinguished

“I went straight saving my children and important documents. However, other stuffs were burned by the fire,” she said.

To extinguish the fire, 19 fire trucks from East Jakarta Fire and Disaster Handling Sub-Department were sent to the location. Although the firemen had trouble in extinguishing the fire because of narrow access to the location, they finally succeed in putting out the flames after fighting for one hour.

“Temporary allegation, the fire was caused by electricity short circuit. There is no casualty in this incident, but the material losses are estimated around Rp 600 million,” stated Head of East Jakarta Fire and Disaster Handling Sub-Department Operation Section, Moelyanto.
