Pasar Ikan Explorer 2020 Ensured to Comply with Health Protocols

Commemorating Maritime Museum's 43th Anniversary, Jakarta Culture Agency holds Pasar Ikan Explorer 2020 at Maritime Museum, Penjaringan, North Jakarta, on July 7-12, 2020. This event is ensured to implement COVID-19 prevention protocols.

Jakarta Culture Agency Head, Iwan Henry stated, Maritime Museum celebrated its anniversary in extraordinary situation. Due to COVID-19 pandemic situation, Culture Agency ensured this event complies with health protocols to prevent COVID-19 transmission.

"The current pandemic situation makes us able to hold an original and creative event while maintaining good health," he said when opening Pasar Ikan Explorer 2020, Tuesday (7/7).

For 43 years, he continued, Maritime Museum exists to educate people about the beauty of Indonesian diversity through maritime perspective which raised as the 43th Anniversary's theme of 'Coastal Culture as Indonesian Harmony'.

"Through Pasar Ikan Explorer 2020, we want people to know better about diversity of Indonesia's coastal culture," he conveyed.

According to him, local wisdom and its various traditions are the main foundation that deliver Indonesia becomes a great nation that respected by the others.

"This activity is very thematic with many potentials that can be explored through a life journey of Maritime Museum. By knowing it more closely, we expect more people to love their own cultures and traditions, and proud to be a part of its preservation efforts," he said.

For information there are various activities at Pasar Ikan Explorer 2020 such as discussion on Indonesian maritime history writings, scientific dialogue, casual chatting, fairy tales, and painting workshop.

As well as bazaars that sold products of coastal communities such as batik, accessories, culinary, marine crafts and the others.

"There are exhibition, seminar, dialogs, storytelling, cooking demo, and others. It shows great participation from the locals, especially museum observers," he added.

His side provides alternative ways for people who are interested to go to the event but can't visit the location, by watching the live event from Maritime Museum Instagram account @museumkebaharianjkt.

"It is not easy for a museum to survive from year to year with all obstacles and challenges. Following the development of science and technology allows us to exist until now," he closed.
