East Jakarta Mayor Wants KBT Free from PKLs

East Jakarta Mayor, Muhammad Anwar instructed his personnel to intensify monitoring on the East Flood Canal (KBT) to prevent street vendors (PKL) from selling on the location during the transitional Large-scale Social Restrictions (PSBB).

During transitional PSBB period, KBT area should be sterile from PKL

"During transitional PSBB period, KBT area should be sterile from PKL because it is feared to spread COVID-19," he conveyed after leading KBT arrangement coordination meeting at the office, Thursday (7/9).

Until now, KBT is still guarded by 400-500 personnel from morning to night. His side wanted personnel to guard the area from PKLs until the transition period ended. He ensured to impose sanctions on recalcitrant PKLs who trade at KBT.

KBT Area in East Jakarta Being Cleaned

According to him, KBT is East Jakarta's icon that should be maintained well. Not only used to control flood, but KBT is also an alternative recreation spot by the locals.

"Thus it needs collaboration between sectors to arrange KBT thus it can be safe and comfort for recreation, sport, or social interaction," he asserted.

Related to KBT arrangement, he has coordinated it with Ciliwung-Cisadane Flood Control Office (BBWSCC) and Ministry of Public Work and Public Housing (Kemen PUPR).
