Private Enterprise to Manage City Bus Terminal

Jakarta Provincial Government will give all bus terminal management to private party in order to improve the service. With professional management, it is hoped the terminal income can be maximized to boost Local Income (PAD).

Head of Technical Management Unit (UPT) of Terminal for Jakarta Transportation Department, Anton Parura, said there are lot of potential income from terminal need to be managed well. To cover the income leakage, terminal should be managed by private.

"There are traders at the terminal, unfortunately the income went to their pockets. That's why the PAD always stagnant," he said.

However, Anton added, his side does not know why the terminal retribution is always stagnant, while the terminal's expense higher than income.

"We only get Rp 3 billion from 23 bus terminal. It should be bigger than that," he added.

Therefore, the terminal management will be given to third party. The management will cover the business, maintenance, cleanliness, and security.

"UP Terminal has task to manage the vehicle flow, including outside terminal traffic," he continued.

The privatization project will start from Rawamangun Terminal in 2015. Unfortunately, there is still no investor ready.
