Thousand Islands Maritime, Agriculture, and Food Security (KPKP) Sub-agency actively involves Women Farmers Groups (KWT) to maintain food security in Thousand Islands amid of COVID-19 pandemic.

This training includes hydroponic and conventional cultivation for vegetables and fruits

Thousand Islands KPKP Sub-agency Food Security Section Head, Parsan conveyed, his side continues to train KWT in 6 regions in order to maintain food security.

"This training includes hydroponic and conventional cultivation for vegetables and fruits," he added, Tuesday (7/21).

Not only cultivation, but his side also provide plant seeds and fund assistance Rp 15 million from Agriculture Ministry for each farmer groups to buy medicines for plants (including fertilizer), vegetable seeds, aerator machine and other farming needs.

There are coached KWT under KPKP Sub-agency in several inhabited islands, namely KWT Doa Ibu at Untung Jawa Island Urban Village; KWT Seroja of Lancang Island, Pari Island Urban Village; KWT Kampung Kelor, Tidung Island Urban Village; KWT Hijau Lestari of Pramuka Island, Panggang Island Urban Village.

Next, KWT Kelapa Hijau at Kelapa Island Urban Village, KWT Bugenvile at Harapan Island Urban Village, and Hamparan Farmer Group(conventional) Payung Indah, and Jaya Putra Farmer Group in Tidung Kecil Island.

"We hope farmer groups in each urban villages can create new farmer groups in order to maintain food security in Thousand Islands. It is enough if only to meet the daily needs of vegetables and fruit in Thousand Islands," he asserted.
