If it is done diligently, it can become food security in Thousand Islands

The Thousand Islands Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security (KPKP) Sub-agency continues to realize food security amid COVID-19 pandemic. That is by empowering mothers who are members of the Women Farmers group.

According to Parsan, Division Head of Food Security and Agriculture, counseling action is given continuously to them by following the health protocol and PSBB rules.

Food Stock Ahead of Ramadan is Safe in South Jakarta

"Previously we did counseling directly to the location, now it is done via WhatsApp," he expressed, Wednesday (4/22).

They are PKK cadres or RPTRA caretakers who have been actively in urban farming by utilizing their house yards.

"If it is done diligently, it can become food security in Thousand Islands," he said.

He explained the use of yard is done through direct methods or by hydroponics for leaf vegetables and fruits. During this time, most farmer groups already use this method to meet the needs of vegetables for the family.

"We're also promoting the planting of leaf and fruit vegetables on empty lands of Tidung Kecil, Payung and Karya islands," he stated.
