City Agrees to Collaborate on 2020 Qurban Program Amid COVID-19

Amid COVID-19, the Jakarta Provincial Government remains committed to lighten the low-income people's burden in Jakarta. That is by collaborating with Jakarta Baznas Bazis, Aksi Cepat Tanggap Foundation, Rumah Zakat and Pos Keadilan Peduli Umat Human Initiative Foundation in the execution of the Qurban Program, Idul Adha 1441 Hijri.

Therefore they signed an agreement at the Great Hall, Jakarta City Hall, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (7/28) afternoon. From the city government, the agreement was signed by the Jakarta Civil Servant Corps Secretariat Head Amirudin.

The Qurban Program this year has important meaning. Besides strengthening social value, it also aims to improve the welfare of Jakarta people. Eventually the qurban meat will be intended to low-income people in a number of RWs by implementing health protocols.

712 Qurban Animals in Setiabudi Have Been Examined

"This year's Idul Adha and qurban animal slaughtering is different than before, as we are in the midst of COVID-19. To distribute meat, we have cooperated with local urban village, RT and RW and is expected to run smoothly and right on target," expressed Jakarta Vice Governor, Ahmad Riza Patria (Ariza) in his speech, as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release.

It is hoped that the program could run safely in accordance with Islamic guidance and could minimize the crowd during slaughtering process. Therefore, It was slated to be done at the animal slaughterhouse (RPH).

Further, after passing through an agreement signing, the parties involved can follow up with the activities, including;

• Location Determination

• Socialization and testimony invites people who are capable of sacrifice

• Examining the health of qurban cows, increasing the capacity of rapid tests to officers and mustahiq

• Examining animal health during slaughtering qurban animals at the Cakung RPH and at several slaughtering points

• Conduct monitoring starting from the process of distributing qurban cows, monitoring and evaluating the implementation in the field

At the same time, he gave appreciation to four zakat institutions that have experience helping underprivileged people in Jakarta and voluntarily commit to work together and support the city government.

"Thank you to all parties involved, synergizing together in the process of implementing the Qurban Program. Hopefully this year's Idul Adha gives blessings, happiness, look after each other with the meaning of bringing closer to the less and protect others from the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak," he stated.

In this moment, there were also administration mayors; officials under the city government; PD Dharma Jaya Supervisor Council Chairman, Wildan S. Niam; Jakarta Baznas Bazis Chairman, Ahmad Lutfi; Aksi Cepat Tanggap Foundation Chairman, Rimanda Putra; Rumah Zakat Marketing Officer Chief, Irvan Nugraha; and Pos Keadilan Peduli Umat Human Initiative Chairman, Sri Adi Bramasetia.
