KPKP Ensures to Hold Food Inspection in Markets, Including Online Traders

Jakarta Government through Maritime, Agriculture, and Food Security (KPKP) Agency continues to carry out integrated food inspection during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jakarta Government will conduct food inspection and sampling until December 2020

Jakarta KPKP Agency Head, Darjamuni assessed, food inspection is needed to ensure food products are safe for consumption. This inspection is not only carried out towards food traders in markets but also those who sell foods online.

 

KPKP Agency Intensifies Fresh Food Inspection

"Including online food traders, we will monitor and test the food samples," he mentioned, Monday (8/3).

Fresh food inspection has been carried out since January 2020 in 153 traditional markets managed by Perumda Pasar Jaya, in supermarkets, fish auction site, Muara Angke Fish Wholesale Market, Fish Production/Processing Unit, Agricultural Product Processing Centers, and Slaughterhouses (RPH)s throughout Jakarta.

In this inspection, KPKP conducts sample test where his side take samples from agricultural products such as rice, shallot, garlic, red big chili, red cayenne, orange, lemon, apple, pear, and grape.

Meanwhile for animal products, samples can be taken from beef, chicken, minced beef or chicken, innards. Then for fishery products, samples can be taken from fresh fish and processed fishery products.

"Jakarta Government will conduct food inspection and sampling until December 2020. In 2021, we also plan to propose the program," he said.

Through this program, he assessed, Jakartans need not to worry since Jakarta Government will ensure to monitor the safety of food distributed and sold in Jakarta, especially fresh foods.

"It is one of Jakarta Government's commitments in ensuring food safety for Jakarta resisdents," he asserted.
