KPKP Agency Optimizes Pekarangan Pangan Lestari Program in 12 Urban Villages

The Jakarta Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security (KPKP) Agency is supporting the program of Pekarangan Pangan Lestari (P2L), which is one of the activities launched by the Ministry of Agriculture to tackle the stunting problem in Indonesia.

Darjamuni, Head of Jakarta KPKP Agency said it was very appropriate as it was in line with the urban farming program, which is one of the Jakarta Regional Strategic Activities.
According to him, this year, the city received P2L program allocations in 12 urban villages. Six development locations, which were a continuation of 2019, are in Thousand Islands, namely Untung Jawa Island, Tidung Island, Lancang Island, Pramuka Island, Harapan Island and Kelapa Island urban villages.
KPKP Harvests Vegetables and Fruits from OPAL Land"As for the six locations for growth this year, are in East Jakarta area, namely Cipinang Besar Utara, Pisangan Lama, Pasar Rebo, Kali Sari, Cakung Timur and Klender urban villages," he stated.
He explained the number of P2L group was 30 people in which their status had been recognized and fostered by their respective KPKP Sub-agencies.
P2L activities consisted of four main activities, namely, development of nurseries, implementing demonstration plots, implementing yard development and implementing post-harvest activities.
He went on to say that this program aimed to tackle stunting problem in the community, increase the availability of food at the individual and family level, especially food that is cheap, easy and safe for families.
Aside that, it also aimed to promote a more diverse, nutritious, balanced and safe consumption pattern, increase community activities to utilize the yard for productive crops that can produce such as growing vegetables in the yard.
